Revision 12 breaks mplayer..app won't launch anymore.
Added by Douglas Carroll over 2 years ago
Hey!
My version 11 automatically downloaded version 12 and now my new version 12 won't launch! i cannot open it by clicking the icon and trying to open a movie with it doesn't work either.
I have run ALL the system repair utilities from Onyx and also deleted any pref files I can find from mplayer but nothing works!!!
Here is the terminal message if this helps...
------
dyld: Symbol not found: ___stack_chk_guard
Referenced from: /Applications/MPlayer OSX Extended.app/Contents/MacOS/lib/libexpat.1.dylib
Expected in: /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib
Trace/BPT trap
------
What does that mean and how do I fix it so Mplayer runs again?????
I'm running a G4 powerbook under os 10.4.11
Thanks!!!!!!
Douglas

I just discovered Mplayerosx, which wasn't developed since 2005. I always used mplayer directly from console. Now I was curious, downloaded the .app and experinced the same error as Douglas, the exactly same message. I'm using an iBook G4, OSX 10.4.something. (Won't upgrade on Leopard because everything works fine and fast.)
Maybe something wrong compiled? Would be great if we could use Mplayerosx also on "old" G4 books. :)

ditto.
I have MPlayer OS X 1.1.app, which runs fine.
I downloaded Rev 12 and it didn't launch. OS X 4.11, G4 dual.
I tried to download Rev 11 but the link is broken.
Rev 10 launches fine, and rebuilds the font cache as described.

The Rev 11 link: http://mplayerosxext.googlecode.com/files/MPlayer-OSX-Extended_rev11.dmg
Rev 12 breaks on Intel Mac with 10.4.11 too.

I'm sorry for the confusion, to be clear:
rev12 requires at least OSX 10.5 Leopard
There are three reasons for this decision:- Tiger is out of Apple's support cycle
- Each release of OSX brings a slew of new great tools to developers which make it easier to do great things(tm)
- There are various issues compiling for Tiger from Snow Leopard
If you're still on Tiger, please use rev11 from the link above. I have updated the homepage to make this more clear.
