Revision 12 and the Apple Remote

Added by Colonel Klink about 2 years ago

In rev11 the Apple Remote behavior of the back, forward and Menu buttons were changed from the standard MPlayer OSX style to a more QuickTime-kind of way. Complaints were made and now in rev12 the back and forward buttons have been reverted to their original behavior. The one button remaining is the Menu button. Originally, pressing it would correspond to the 'O' key, displaying the current time of the playback, then the total length of the movie and then something about a thing called 'OSD' (on-screen display?) being off and then on again. Now in rev12 pressing Menu corresponds to the key 'F' and causes the screen to switch between normal and full screen. I for one can't foresee a situation where one would need this function. Checking where you're going in a movie and how close you are to the end without having to drag yourself up from the your bed seems a more pressing concern. If you're in a situation where you need a remote (relatively far from your computer and/or lazy), the only times you're going to change between normal and full screen are at the start and end of a playback: times when you have to get up and go to your computer anyways (to start a new movie or to finally get something worthwhile done).

So, I humbly ask that the good people behind this excellent program could find the time to revert also the Menu button to its pre-rev11 behavior.
