Description

In Mac OS X 10.6, the new Quicktime X features a borderless window. When your mouse cursor is off the application window, the interface disappears and you're just left with the video. This presentation, as Apple purports, saves space on the screen, and is clean and nice. I think it would be a good idea to have different "window modes" for MPlayer, especially that sort.

History

I looked into this briefly, and it appears that QTX uses custom UI elements to accomplish its new borderless look. Some applications have since copied QTX, notably MPlayerX, by essentially reconstructing the UI from the ground up. I suggest anyone who prefers this UI style to consider MPlayerX, as the effort to reproduce it for MPE does not seem worthwhile to me.
